I haven't found anyone to speak, so I'm going to cancel tomorrow's
event in favor of just having the chat.
Michael Edelstein also informs me that Sheesh Mahal is now closed, and
Maharani is expanding to take over that space. He suggested another
Indian restaurant with similar food, Taj Mahal, which is located at 398
Eddy Street at the corner of Leavenworth. This is closer to Market
Street and to downtown. Although the 'hood is a bit seedier, I've eaten
there and the food is good and their buffet is even cheaper than Sheesh
Mahal's was. It's a large space, so we should be able to have speakers
there with relatively little disturbance.
So since I guess it falls to me to host the chat, I'll say we'll meet
tomorrow at Taj Mahal at 7pm, and people can check it out and get an
opinion on whether to continue using it or look for another venue. If
anyone (Kelly?) wants an escort through the neighborhood, please let me
know. 8)
Topic? Hmm... in light of Mayor Newsom's bold move, let's make it
"Breaking the law -- when should we do it, and when is it *really*
breaking the law?" Hope to see you there!
