A Non-Aggression Pact You May Sign Courtesy Daniel Ellsberg

Dear Everyone;

This came from Lew Rockwell.com and an article by Daniel Ellsberg of the Pentagon Papers fame.

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig7/ellsberg1.html

Daniel Ellsberg is behind this movement and states the following from the article:

Americans must summon the civil courage to face what is being done in their name and to refuse to be accomplices. The Voters' Pledge is one way to do this. The Voters' Pledge is a project comprising many of the major organizations in the antiwar movement: United for Peace and Justice, Peace Action, Gold Star Families for Peace, Code Pink, and Democracy Rising, as well as groups with broader agendas like the National Organization for Women, Progressive Democrats of America, AfterDowningStreet.com, and magazines including the American Conservative and The Nation. The goal of this coalition is to build a base of antiwar voters that cannot be ignored by anyone running for office in the United States. We want millions of voters to sign the pledge and say no to pro-war candidates.

"I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign."

He further states: You can help right now by visiting http://www.votersforpeace.us/ and immediately signing the Voters' Pledge.

If you want to sign a non-aggression pledge here's one for you on a national basis. Whether or not it works is problematic but is definitely a non-agression statement as posted above..

Heheh. Yeah, certainly stay away from Corporate Lawyers Against
War. The Ronald Reagan Home for the Criminally Insane might be
okay, though.

Dear Derek;

Would you sign the following statement if it did not include all
those socialistic communistic ultra-liberal left wing pinko comm
symps groups?

"I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or
President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and
preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or

I was impressed with Denis Goddard's talk at today's LPSF meeting.
The FSP is successfully changing the New Hampshire political
environment by tackling issues one by one...regardless of what other
groups are involved. Ending the war is ending the war. Regardless
of who wants it ended.

Derek:

This seems to me one of the most damaging (not to say uncharitable)
attitudes libertarians can assume. If we are unwilling to ally
ourselves with others on individual issues, we certainly can't expect
anybody to ally with us. I don't agree with socialists any more than
you do; but I also don't see them as any more evil than those who
support the war in Iraq.

Dear Derek and Mike;

The old saying applies here when it comes to ending the War on Iraq:

Politics makes for strange bedfellows.

Libertarians who oppose the War on Iraq and socialistic left-wing
liberals who do the same does make for strange bedfellows - but if
it gets the USA out of Iraq - so waht - who cares what their side
issues are if they will agreee to focus on getting the USA out of
Iraq.

Then we will not have more and more instances of soldiers running
amok raping and killing innocent Iraqi teenage women and killing
their family witnesses because they didn't have guns to fight back
with. Or Marines slaughtering civilians for revenge and trying to
cover it up.

Unfortunately these type incidents are increasing but not being
reported on yet. Sooner or later there is going to be a My Lai style
massacre in Iraq and then there will be Hell to pay.

Dear Derek;

You said the War on Iraq has resulted in a net gain of freedom and
liberty in this world.

Please detail how this net gain in freedom and liberty applies to
the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.Especially as they wait on the
door kickers to break into their homes - gang rape their daughters -
then murder the witnesses? And - there is more than one instance of
this type of event happening.

Not to mention the slaughtering of innocent civilians in acts of
revenge by the military or in acts of collateral damage.

If these events are not allowed to happen here in the US why is the
US allowing such events to happen in Iraq?
